Students enjoying the Chinese New Year gala
Around 200 Chinese students and their foreign friends gathered at the George Washington University on Feb 14 to celebrate the Chinese lunar New Year with Chinese food, singing, dancing, and games.
The gala was held in the Marvin Centre by the Chinese Student and Scholar Association (CSSA) of the George Washington University. According to Qiu Weixin, one of the CSSA members, this tradition has been around for more than ten years.
Qiu said, the gala turned out to be much better than he had expected, since the inclement snow storm had created lots of troubles for them to rehearsal.” The atmosphere was good. It seems the students like the gala,” he said.
Zhu Sha, one of the student performers, told the reporter:” Two years ago, I happened to be here for the annual gala as a visitor. Now I’m the 2rd year postgraduate student at George Washington University. I still enjoy it.”
“How do you like the gala?” asked James Chi, a Chinese who came to the gala from Maryland. “I think it’s a good one!”said James.
